DEMO LOT
Ancient Haryana, 'Agodaka' city-state of the Agacha people, copper coin of Gajalakshmi type, (100-50 BC), 1.12g. Obv: central motif obliterated under a 'tree-in-railing' device counterstruck but Brahmi legend Agodake (Aga)cha Ja(na)… visible along the left margin. Rev: goddess standing facing over a lotus, holding long-stemmed lotuses in her hands (elephants above the lotuses are truncated), a Triratna symbol at the base; partly obliterated by a six-arched hill motif struck over.

Very fine+, Very rare.

The site of ancient Agodaka is identified with Agroha in South-West Haryana and it is mythically believed to be the place of origin for the 'Agrawal' community, which dominates business enterprises across India. 'Gajalakshmi' type is perhaps the rarest of all 'Agodaka' coin types.
