Ancient Eastern Malwa, Dasharna area, Betwa valley - uninscribed die-struck coin of the Amatyas of Erikachha city-state, (c.200-150 BC), Pieper 503, 2.12g. Obv: two stylized Nandipadas within a rectangular border, countermarked with a small flower symbol. Rev: six-arched hill, partly visible.
Extremely fine, Rare.
The larger units of the same series bear the name of Amatya Ashadhamitra, a '-Mitra' official of the Dasharna region. Also known to have held 'Mahasenapati' title, the Mitras of Dasharna subsequently issued coins as kings.
