Ancient Central Malwa, Vidisha region - inscribed copper punch-marked coin of Hathadeva (c.150-100 BC), counterstruck on a coin of Revabhuti, not listed in PAIC, 2.55g. Obv: Two punches - 1. taurine standard within a semicircle; 2. Brahmi legend Raño Hathadevasa, with traces of undertype (wavy line). Rev: Undertype of Revabhuti clearly visible - a punch of bold eight-petal lotus and a punch with Brahmi legend Raño Revabhutisa.

Good Very fine, Very rare.

An important counterstrike which helps us establish the internal chronology of post-Mauryan rulers in the upper Betwa Valley.
