Art that is laced with nostalgia, romanticism and vitality by this world famous husband and wife team. Memories of Venice is a 39x28 in. embellished serigraph on canvas, signed by the artists and numbered in an edition of 395. Domestic shipping-$20, International depending upon location. The serigraphs of Tanya Wissotzky and Alexander Galtchansky are created by the interaction of two independent imaginations working in intellectual and aesthetic harmony. Superimposed upon the beautiful flowers are excerpts of calligraphy from old English flower painting manuals. In the still lifes, the classically executed centerpiece has all the nostalgia and romanticism of a time past, the color rich and sensuous. Juxtaposed against this are the music scores, totally dry and abstract and yet evocative of gaiety and pleasure. Tanya Wissotzky and Alexander Galtchansky were born in the same year, 1959, in Crimea (U.S.S.R.). Their careers began in art school. Alexander studied in Dnepropetrovsk and Wissotzky in Simferopol. They continued their studies at the Kiev institute of the Arts; Wissotzky as a painter and Alexander as a book illustrator. After getting married, they emigrated to Israel. Having found themselves in a drastically different situation and place, they united their creative activities and began working together.
