The model 1913 cavalry sword was designed by General George S. Patton & is commonly referred to as the “Patton sword”. It represents a technological leap forward concentrating on the thrusting power of cavalry rather than the hacking power. 1) Overall length: 43”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “S(flaming bomb)A1914” & “US16293” on the other. Sheet steel guard. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Iron mounted canvas covered scabbard w/ no peg. CONDITION: blade has a darkened fuller. Hilt shows light wear. Scabbard shows average wear. 2) Overall length: 43”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “S(flaming bomb)A1917” & “US32136” on the other. Sheet steel guard. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Iron mounted canvas covered scabbard w/ no peg. CONDITION: blade shows areas of original factory polish. Hilt shows very light wear. 1 Grip has an internal crack. Scabbard shows very light wear. 3) Overall length: 43”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “S(flaming bomb)A1918” & “US33153” on the other. Sheet steel guard w/ leather sword knot attached. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Iron mounted canvas covered scabbard w/ no peg. Mounted w/ a Model 1912 picket pin & sheath. Scabbard has 2 brown leather hanging straps attached. CONDITION: blade generally shows light wear. Hilt shows light wear. Scabbard shows light wear.
