1) STEYR GEW 88 COMMISSION. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 3698r. Bbl. 29 1/8". Numbers match on receiver & bbl. shroud. Rifle converted to stripper clip operation in 1905 by addition of clip guides, relief cut in rear of receiver ring, cartridge retainer inside of mag. & sheet metal cover on bottom of trigger guard. Bbl. marked "S" indicating rebored for spitzer bullet. Markings on receiver ring include "S OEWG STEYR 1890". Has Turkish crescent moon plus Turkish markings on bolt indicating sale to Turkey during World War I. Straight bolt handle. Rear sight has been re-graduated to match spitzer ammunition. Inverted V front sight. Dbl. slotted cleaning rod is present. Detachable rear swivel is present. Walnut stock has faint German crown acceptance mark on right side. Buttplate has unit marking "LT9KW". CONDITION: stock has arsenal rework finish w/ staining, wear, dents & scratches. Metal has arsenal rework type black finish w/ thinning, light wear & scratches. Trigger guard has notable plum hue. Poor worn bore turning dark. (01-17661/RW). ANTIQUE. 2) LOEWE 1895 CHILEAN. Cal. 7mm Mauser. S# B1652. Bbl. 21 3/4". Numbers match on bolt, receiver & trigger guard. Turned down bolt handle. Markings enhanced in white. Left receiver rail is marked "MAUSER CHILEANO MODELO 1895 MANUFACTURA LOEWE BERLIN". Receiver has Chilean crest. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1,300m. Inverted V front sight w/ protective ears. Cleaning rod & bayonet lug is present. Walnut stock & handguard. Sling attachment is on right side of rifle. Has repro. military type leather sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 9 7/8" Fullered blade bayonet. Marked on left ricasso "WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM & CO SOLINGEN". Right ricasso has star in shield & interlocking circles. Smooth walnut grips. Steel scabbard. Unsharpened bayonet turning gray w/ light wear. Grips have extensive wear w/ dents & chipping. Balance of metal turning gray. Scabbard has flaking worn black finish. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework finish w/ wear, scratches & staining throughout. Metal has arsenal rework blackened finish w/ sm. spots of missing finish & light high point wear.
