The model 1913 cavalry sword was designed by General George S. Patton & is commonly referred to as the “Patton sword”. It represents a technological leap forward concentrating on the thrusting power of cavalry rather than the hacking power. 1) Overall length: 44”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “L.F.(flaming bomb)& C.1918” & “U.S.(proofmark)” on the other. Sheet steel guard. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Iron mounted canvas covered scabbard w/ peg. Scabbard is green in color. CONDITION: blade shows very light wear. Hilt & scabbard show light wear. 2) Overall length: 43 1/2”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “L.F.(flaming bomb)& C.1918” & “U.S.(proofmark)” on the other. Sheet steel guard. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Iron mounted canvas covered scabbard painted black w/ no peg. CONDITION: blade has a darkened finish. Hilt shows moderate wear w/ most finish removed. Scabbard shows average wear.
