The model 1913 cavalry sword was designed by General George S. Patton & is commonly referred to as the “Patton sword”. It represents a technological leap forward concentrating on the thrusting power of cavalry rather than the hacking power. 1) Overall length: 44”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “S(flaming bomb)A1913” & “US1297” on the other. Sheet steel guard. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Iron mounted canvas covered scabbard w/ peg. CONDITION: blade shows light wear w/ a few tiny spots of discoloration. Hilt shows light wear but grip is missing attachment screws. Scabbard shows very light wear. 2) Overall length: 44”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “S(flaming bomb)A1913” & “US3476” on the other. Sheet steel guard. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Iron mounted canvas covered scabbard w/ peg. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray slightly mottled finish.
