2 LATE WWII JAPANESE TYPE 99  LAST DITCH  BOLT
ACTION RIFLES.
ALL: cal. 7.7 Jap. By the end of WWII, Japan simplified production of Type 99 rifles to accommodate scarce resources such as front blade sight w/out protective ears, fixed rear sight, no provision for cleaning rod & fixed front bands. Bbl. 25 1/2".
1) NAGOYA. S# 78628. Receiver has partially grounded off mum & Series 29 appearing mark. Crude metal finish. Box shaped bolt knob & flat safety button on bolt. Hardwood stock set w/ rough finish, recoil lug, wooden buttplate & brown leather sling. CONDITION: Fair overall as last war time finished. Metal has oxidation & pitting. Stock has been duffel cut hid by mid bbl. band along w/ hole punched "RK" marking on left side buttstock. Fair stock w/ wear & gouges. Good bore. (22-784/MD).
2) TOKYO JUKI KOGYO SERIES 27. S# 7651.Metal has crude finish w/ receiver having no mum mark, Tokyo Juki Kogyo & Series 27 marking. Oval bolt knob w/ flat checkered safety button. Triggerguard tang Type 38 (leftover part ?). GI modified 2 piece hardwood stock set w/out buttplate. CONDITION: fair overall as is. Metal has oxidation & pitting. GI modified stock has carved floral motifs ahead of floorpalte, 1 extra flute to comb, shaped pistol grip, & flattened grasping grooves. Wire repaired break on toe section of 2 piece buttstock. Good bore. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Jack Verret Sr. (22-788/MD). ALL CURIO. $300-500.
