BOTH: cal. 11x60R. 1) SPAND GENBERG & SAUER MODEL 71 CAVALRY CARBINE. S# 1258. Bbl. 20". All visible numbers match. Single shot bolt action. Receiver marked on top left flat "K.Mod.71". Marked on right rear "1877" & right front w/ Imperial German proofs. Oct. bbl. reinforce marked on top flat w/ Imperial Eagle "Sp & Sr SUHL". Reinforce has Imperial proofs. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1,200m. Inverted V front sight. Nosecap has protective ears. Walnut stock extends to muzzle. Stock marked w/ Imperial acceptance marks on right side of butt & behind trigger guard tang. Buttplate marked w/ unit marking "B.2.R.I.D.F.4.38". Bbl. band made w/ saddle ring, buttstock has sling swivel. Made w/out bayonet lug. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: non matching brass muzzle cap & sight protector. CONDITION: stock has sm. crack behind receiver tang & sm. crack in front of action screw escutcheon. Stock has worn original finish w/ moderate wear, dents, scratches & staining. Metal has traces of blue turning gray & patina w/ scattered very fine pitting. Shiny bore w/ sharp lands has several scattered pits (01-17053/RW). 2 ) SPANDAU MODEL 71 / 84. S# 4627. Bbl. 31.5". All numbers match. Fine example of early German service rifle. Rnd. receiver marked on left wall w/ "I.G.Mod.71/84". Marked on right side w/ "1888". Oct. bbl. reinforce marked on top flat w/ Imperial crown & "SPANDAU". Left flat marked w/ Crown "F.W.". Right flat marked w/ Imperial proof marks. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1,600m. Inverted V front sight. Mag. cap has stacking rod. Bottom sling swivels. Parade swivel is not present in trigger guard. Buttplate marked at heel "G.R.J.3.80.". Walnut stock marked at belly & on right side w/ crisp Imperial acceptance marks. CONDITION: stock has attractive original finish, but has numerous dents & scratches around buttstock, perhaps due to storage rack. Bright receiver, buttplate & mag. cap. Balance of metal retains blue finish w/ fire blue visible on trigger & cutoff retaining spring. Very good shiny bore. (01-17054/RW). BOTH ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,600.
