1) NON REGULATION MEXICAN WAR TO CIVIL WAR US OFFICER'S SABER. Overall length: 35 7/8". Blade length: 29 7/8". Blade is etched over 1/2 its length w/ various foliate & patriotic motifs. Blade is marked near the ricasso "Warranted / A. BELGER". Iron semi basket guard has a 2 1/2" disk w/ an engraved American spread winged eagle w/ a ribbon above that reads "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Wire wrapped sharkskin grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a very dark patina but the remains of gilded highlights in the etched decoration can be plainly seen. Hilt also has a dark patina. Grip is 97% intact w/ minor losses near the pommel. Wire is missing a few strands. (02-13382/BF). 2) BOWIE/BELT KNIFE. Overall length: 15". Blade length: 10 1/4". Plain blade w/ a high medial ridge. Iron guard w/ upper & lower ferrule. Horn grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark patina w/ some very minor edge nicks. Guard & ferrules have a dark gray patina. Grip shows substantial wear but no damage. (02-13401/BF). $800-1,300.
