All autographs of Ted Williams (including this one) were obtained by the consignor, in person, at an event in Greenwich, CT in June of 1983. This was one of the first (if not the first) autograph show featuring Ted Williams. The photographs which accompany this lot were all taken at this same event. JC-30101-246 Ted Williams played on the Boston Red Sox from 1939 through 1960. Some call him the best hitter of all time. His .406 batting average in 1941 has never since been topped. However, this achievment received less attention than it might have, due to Yankee Joe DiMaggio setting his own record in 1941, hitting in 56 straight games. Â JC-30346
