Cal. 58. NSN. This is a standard Model 1863 Springfield w/ clamping bands having band springs, 40" bbl. w/ 3 position leaf rear sight. CONDITION: good overall. Metal is mottled gray w/ pitting. Buttplate has no surcharge & rust on top. Gun appears original & complete w/ exception of missing front sling swivel & replaced breech plug which has an "1837" date on tang but fits fairly well. Stock has been sanded, now w/ rounded corners but inspector's cartouches are still discerned. Gun will not hold full cock, clean crisp rifled bore. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of Ronald A. Katchuk. (01-16720/JS). ANTIQUE. $700-900.
