Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 40", standard configuration. Typically these contracts were flat banded, so this "1862" lock apparently reused in later musket. Regardless, everything fits well. CONDITION: lock has been cleaned w/ good markings & pitting. The remainder of iron has dark unmolested patina w/ pitting, matching lock & hammer at breech. Stock is sound, well fit w/ 2 discernable inspector's cartouches. Mechanically fine w/ bored out smooth bbl., pitted & measuring approx 0.60 cal. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Dan Poppen. (01-17300/JS). ANTIQUE. $700-900.
