MUSKET. Cal. 58. NSN. Standard configuration, 56" overall w/ 40" bbl., brass nosecap. Lock is marked "U.S. / HARPERS FERRY" forward of hammer & "1855" on tail. CONDITION: good overall. Appears complete & original. Metal overall is a mottled gray/plum patina w/ pitting, especially heavy at breech, obscuring bbl. date & "VP" proofs. Stock is sound & solid w/ 2 good discernible cartouches. Mechanically fine, w/ reamed out smooth bore which now measures about 62 Cal. (01-17450/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
