1722-H [La Rochelle Mint] John Law Sol. Very Fine, the legends strong save the very base of the reverse and top obverse, where they are weak but visible; this includes the H mintmark, but the La Rochelle mint is assured by the differents of a sideways acorn at the end of the obverse legend and a downward pointing arrow after the date on the reverse, both unique to this mint. Medium brown, lightly rough surfaces with some patination, and a few ancient reverse scratches, but nothing severe. Struck from a very late state of this reverse, with notable die breaks at the left side of the shield. An extremely rare mint for the series, La Rochelle struck the Sol denomination only in this year and Half Sols only in 1722 and 1723 (both offered above). Smith notes the rarity of all coins from this mint, and for the Sol he found just 5 examples out of the 262 different coins in his census.
