1721-B [Rouen Mint] Copper Nine Deniers, Martin 1.2-A.2. Rarity-4. Very Fine, sharply struck, on the usual planchet which shows some light roughness, though here less than often found. The legends are bold on either side, the date and mintmark both sharp, as are the two differents on either side of the date – used only on the Rouen mint issues, an easy way to identify the type if the mintmark isn’t visible. Medium brown, the surfaces with some flecks of white gunk which could easily be removed. There are some light scratches on either side, all toned down so not as disturbing. This obverse die was used only in this combination, while the reverse was paired with three different obverse dies.
