Obv: legend in Arabic inscribed in Kufic script - Shahada followed by Yamin al-Daula wa Amin Mahmud al -Milla, to left al-qadir, above billah; AH date in words and mint-name in margin. Rev: legend in Sanskrit inscribed in Sharada script - Avyaktameka Muhammada Avatara Nripati Mahamuda ("the Invisible is One, Muhammad is the manifestation, Mahmud the king"); in the margins - Ayam Tankam Mahmudepure Ghatita Tajikiyer Samvati (“This coin was made in Mahmudpur in the Arab year”) followed by AH date in number.
